Travel RN - Telemetry Unit

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Surgical/Telemetry (Unit 616)
• Number of Beds: 24
• Staffing (Day Shift): Charge nurse, 4-5 RNs, 2-3 PCTs
• Staffing (Night Shift): Charge nurse, 4-5 RNs, 2 PCTs
• Patient Ratios: 5:1
• Equipment: Telemetry monitoring, post-op monitoring
• EMR System: Meditech

Required Certifications & Licenses

• ACLS (RN only)
• NIH Certification (RN only)
• BLS (all)
• Registered Nurse License

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in specialty (Telemetry/Surgical)
• Preferred: Cardiac/Telemetry and/or surgical experience

Typical Procedures

• Post-op recovery for surgical and cath lab patients
• Care for patients post PCI, pacemaker, ablation, cardioversion, re-vascularization
• Management of stroke, CIWA, chest pain, renal failure, respiratory failure
• Administration of set-rate cardiac drips (non-titrating except heparin)

• Multi-tasking environment with occasional high patient turnover (discharges/admissions)
• Variety of patient population including elective ortho, spine, GYN surgeries, and cardiac cases
• Modified self-scheduling with schedules posted 3 weeks in advance, allowing time for shift trades
