Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio

Job Details

• Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
• Experience Required: Minimum 18 months of recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Licensure: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications Required:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Additional Requirements:

  • Must work at least every other holiday
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
  • PBDS Assessment waived

Required Experience

• Specialty Experience: At least 18 months permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications & Competencies

• Mandatory:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Testing:

  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing during orientation (SafeMedicate)
• Competency Exams:

  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually

Licensure & Background Checks

• Permanent Ohio RN license or compact state license required
• Background check required prior to start, including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • SSN trace
  • Education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months of start and updated annually

  • Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
  • Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if prints are completed prior to start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually

Onboarding & Orientation

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Modules include safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training
• Pass/Fail testing (ECG and medication) completed onsite during orientation
• Candidates must complete all onboarding modules before clearance to start
• Candidates returning with less than 6 months gap may have some requirements waived

Additional Requirements

• Must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
• References: 2 references from employment within the past year, from a manager or supervisor (no co-worker references)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area
• Skills checklist required annually

Summary

This is a night shift travel RN position in Med/Surg Telemetry requiring at least 18 months of recent permanent experience in the specialty. Candidates must hold a valid Ohio or compact state nursing license and current BLS and ACLS certifications. The assignment is 13 weeks long with mandatory completion of onboarding modules and pass/fail competency testing. Fingerprinting, background checks, and comprehensive health and immunization documentation are required.
