Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract


Job Description

  • Setting: Inpatient Adult ICU, Emergency Department (ED), and NICU Level III required; PICU preferred
  • Schedule: Weekends as needed, no call schedule, flexibility required
  • Holiday Work: Must work 2 out of 4 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required upon submission
  • Licensure: Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) not accepted
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in specialty (RRT)
  • Preferred: Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Teaching hospital experience required
    • Epic electronic medical record (EMR) experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
    • All specialties worked must be well documented in employment history
    • NICU levels worked must be listed in work history

Important Notes

  • No block schedules allowed
  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays
  • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
  • Complete and detailed work history required (including bed count, EMR, facility type, etc.)
  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation
  • Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November through April

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification based on highest degree relevant to the job
  • Certification verifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, RRT license) within 30 days of start
  • Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required
  • Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and searches
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination and completion of COVID questionnaire prior to start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • N95 fit test required prior to assignment and updated annually
  • Immunizations required: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Flu seasonal vaccination or exemption (medical/religious only)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within past 12 months
  • Drug testing as required (varies by state)
  • Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start
  • Professional references: 2 verified from assignments within last 3 years
  • Skills checklist within 12 months
  • Work history verification for last 2 years

Additional Facility Policies

  • Dress code and telephone usage policies must be reviewed prior to start
  • Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background, no logos or hats)
  • Auto insurance required if using personal or rental vehicle
  • Auto registration form must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
  • COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work (if deemed necessary)
  • Candidate must complete emergency contact and other facility-specific forms
