Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not allowed for first-time travelers (First time travelers: NO)
• Oncology experience preferred but not required

Unit & Patient Population

• Unit: SICU/Oncology (Rotating)
• Patient Age Group: Adults
• Patient Diagnoses include:

  • Hemorrhagic shock
  • Hypovolemic shock
  • Sepsis and Septic shock
  • Pneumonia
  • ARDS
  • Craniotomy
  • Ischemic and Hemorrhagic stroke
  • Intracranial hypertension
  • Delirium

Required Skills & Procedures

• EPIC experience required
• Special procedures/unit skills:

  • External Ventricular Drain management
  • ICP monitoring
  • Massive Transfusion Protocol
  • Mechanical Ventilation
  • Heated High Flow
  • Bipap and CPAP
  • Tracheostomy management
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Vasopressors titration

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification

Competencies & Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
• Unit-Specific Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually)

Licensure & Background Checks

• Valid state nursing license verification required within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification required for RNs
• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring required
• Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or TB questionnaire)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
• Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required (medical exemptions reviewed)
• Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership)
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
• Facility-specific policies including dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance must be reviewed and signed

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with EPIC skills who are comfortable working in a high-acuity oncology and surgical ICU setting. Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
