Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Patient Ratios: 1:6-7
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to like units or sister facilities
- First-time travelers: Accepted
Experience & Licensing Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- Special Competencies: Telemetry competency required
- Preferred Experience: Previous charge nurse experience and community hospital experience

Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block schedule accommodation possible but not guaranteed
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering last 7 years
- SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required (diploma/transcripts accepted as placeholder)
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; NURSYS verification for RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam updated annually
- Fit mask test onsite during orientation (no PAPR available)
- Immunizations and titers: Tdap (within 10 years or declination), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if prior positive
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology and general competency exams required
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Completion of orientation modules (approx. 4-6 hours) prior to start is mandatory
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, business attire)
- Facility-specific job description must be signed prior to start
- Emergency response team assignments possible during hurricane season (June-November)
