Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Shift: Blocked schedule ONLY - Sunday through Tuesday
  • License Requirements: NJ or Compact nursing license in hand
  • Local Definition: Within 75 miles
  • COVID-19: COVID vaccination card must be provided; no exemptions accepted

Experience Requirements

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA only, required for all RNs
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA only, required for specific units including ICU, ED, PACU, and others
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA only, required for select units such as Pediatrics and ED
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, NICU
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for Labor and Delivery (AWHONN Advanced or NCC C-EFM within 2 years)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required
  • Pass/Fail Testing: Required onsite for all RN specialties (includes Telemetry and Medication exams)

Competency Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Must score 80%, updated annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for all RNs (80% pass rate), updated annually; exceptions apply for certain units
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III): Required annually with 80% passing score; covers topics such as National Patient Safety, HIPAA, OSHA, Infection Control, Ethics, and more
  • Color Blind Testing: Must be completed within 1 year of assignment start (Ishihara test)

Health and Immunization Requirements (Must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)

  • Physical exam or statement of health (signed by MD, DO, PA, NP)
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual Quantiferon Gold or T-spot within 6 months)
  • Proof of immunizations or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred, not required)
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (no rapid tests)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination (mandatory, no religious or medical exemptions accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccination: Completed series with booster if eligible; no declinations or partial series accepted

Background and Verification Requirements

  • 7-year background check including national and state databases, sex offender registry, and sanction lists
  • Education verification of highest degree (diploma can be used as placeholder if pending)
  • Employment verification covering last 7 years (must be completed 2 Fridays prior to start)
  • Two professional references required:
    • One supervisory reference from within 12 months
    • One professional reference from within 3 years
  • Skills checklist specific to unit required

Additional Notes

  • Pass/fail testing onsite: Candidates have one attempt; failure results in contract cancellation
  • All license verifications must be run within 30 days prior to start; no temporary or emergency licenses accepted without approval
  • Facility requires strict compliance with all documentation and credentialing prior to start date

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses licensed in New Jersey or with a Compact license, who are comfortable with a blocked Sunday-Tuesday schedule and can meet comprehensive credentialing, immunization, and competency requirements.
