Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Carmel, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12's)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend

  • License Requirement: Must have Indiana state license and required certifications in hand before starting (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Guaranteed Hours:
    • 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours/week
    • 3 shifts of 12 hours: 36 hours/week
    • 4 shifts of 12 hours: 48 hours/week

Experience & Certifications

Important Notes

  • Effective 11/30/24, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at this facility except for Periop/OR RNs, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS).
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Licenses: Indiana RN license verification within 30 days before start
  • Background Checks:
    • 7 years of residence/work history verification
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
    • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Education: Official transcript or diploma required (may be pending at start)
  • Physical Exam: Completed within 12 months of start date
  • Fit Mask Test: Within 12 months of start; must be tested with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95)
  • Immunizations & Health Requirements:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam required
  • References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years; must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
  • Employment Application: Must be current and explain any gaps of 30 days or more within last 7 years
  • Skills Checklist: Required within 12 months of start and annually thereafter

This position requires a highly skilled ICU RN with at least 2 years of experience, current Indiana RN licensure, and specific certifications. The role involves working in a specialized ICU setting with complex patient care needs including trauma, stroke, ECMO, and cardiac support. Candidates must be prepared to work holiday shifts and meet all compliance and documentation requirements prior to start.
