Description

Travel In-Patient Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Unit

Location: Winnebago, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (Nights shift)


Job Overview

Seeking an experienced Travel In-Patient RN for a fast-paced, high-acuity medical unit. The role involves providing compassionate, efficient care to a diverse patient population while collaborating with a multidisciplinary medical team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Function as primary care nurse and assume charge nurse duties as needed
  • Complete comprehensive initial admission assessments
  • Develop nursing care plans based on assessments
  • Provide interventions as ordered by medical providers (MD, NP, PA)
  • Evaluate patient responses and notify providers of changes promptly
  • Obtain specimen collections
  • Generate consults to appropriate disciplines based on assessment findings
  • Assist with discharge planning and provide disease-preventable vaccines before discharge
  • Deliver discharge instructions related to disease management and follow-up care
  • Float to other areas (Outpatient, Emergency Room) as needed to meet patient demand
  • Participate in emergency response preparedness operations
  • Make critical decisions regarding patient care
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Nebraska or multi-state nurse licensure compact
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs; may involve heavy lifting and patient transfers
  • Physical stamina to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods; manual dexterity required
  • Strong reading, writing, calculation, reasoning, and social interaction skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Fluent in English with strong professional communication skills
