Job Opportunity: Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist (CST/ORT) - Travel Position

Location: Plantation, Florida
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Unit: CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
• Number of Beds: 2 Open Heart Surgical Suites
• Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 2 RNs and 2 Techs
  • Night Shift: On-call
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Equipment: Open Heart instrumentation and supplies
• Call Requirements: On-call approximately every other day and every other weekend

Job Requirements

• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years current experience in an acute CVOR setting
  • Must be able to scrub assist in Open Heart cases
• Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with minimally invasive cardiac procedures
• Typical Procedures:

  • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
  • MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement)
  • AVR (Aortic Valve Replacement)
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Laser lead extractions
  • Some endovascular procedures
  • Standby for TVAR (Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair) and mitral clips
• Additional Duties:

  • May provide lunch relief in other service lines such as Vascular, Robotics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neuro/Spine, Urology, Podiatry, Thoracic Surgery, and Plastic Surgery

Role Description

• Assist the surgeon before, during, and after surgery under the direction and supervision of an RN
• Follow accepted clinical standards of care in the cardiovascular surgical setting

Work Environment

• Scrubs provided by the facility (specific scrub color for OR/CVOR)
• Fast-paced unit requiring adaptability and ability to function independently
• On-call responsibilities as noted above
