Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Observation RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Primarily 3x12 hour night shifts (to be discussed during interview)
  • Facility Type: Regional, 303-bed academic medical center serving multiple counties
  • Traveler friendly facility with quick interviews and offers

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • Current BLS certification (AHA only)
  • Valid West Virginia or Compact nursing license at time of submission (pending or temporary licenses not accepted)
  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Immunizations and health documents as required (see below)

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except OR RNs; must be current or completed onsite within 2 weeks of start)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) required if assigned to ICU
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Competency exams and facility-specific orientation modules

Licensure Verification

  • Primary source verification of state license required
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual TB questionnaire required)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster may pend at start)
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster may pend at start)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination required annually (declinations not accepted unless approved medical or religious exemption)
  • COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; declination form required if opting out
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel of substances

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation, annual education, confidentiality agreements, and attestation forms prior to or at start
  • N95 fit test completed onsite at orientation (male candidates must be clean shaven)
  • Creation of facility-specific accounts for timekeeping prior to start
  • Submission of approved medical or religious exemptions for flu and vaccine if applicable

Additional Notes

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
  • Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the system over 1 year
  • Employment application/resume required
  • Skills checklist must be updated annually for applicable units
