Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Amarillo, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Required Experience: Minimum 1 year as a Registered Nurse
- 1st Time Travelers: Accepted
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Float Requirement: Yes, to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Block Scheduling: Case by case
- Unit Size: 35 beds
- Patient Population: Medical Surgical and Orthopedic
- Telemetry: Monitored in a centralized unit
- Charge Nurse: Free floating
- Support Staff: Patient Care Technicians, Patient Transporters, House discharge nurse floating across departments
- Documentation System: EPIC (experience required within last 6 months)
- Scrub Color: Any, no logos
- Local Traveler Rule: Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify
Certification Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - As applicable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - As applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - As applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - As applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - As applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) - As applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - As applicable (expires annually)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - As applicable

Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (must renew annually)
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (2-Step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- TB Questionnaire within 90 days of start (if positive TB test)
- Measles (Rubeola) - Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Mumps - Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Rubella - Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B - Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella - Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
- Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, etc.)
- Onsite drug screen during orientation (only 1 attempt allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccine (Dose 1 and fully vaccinated) or approved medical/religious exemption required
