Job Opportunity: IR Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Start time between 07:00 - 08:30 AM, Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 9 cases per tech
  • Years of Experience Required: 1 year
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Weekend Requirement: On call as needed (0-5 assignments per month; more is elective)
  • On-call Required: Yes
  • Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
  • Locals Accepted: Yes (no radius restrictions)
  • Pending State License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 5 days

Required Experience

  • Work Setting Experience: Inpatient, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Interventional Radiology
  • X-ray Procedure Experience: Extremities, Abdomen/GI, Spine/Pelvis, Head, Chest/Thorax, Lower and Upper Extremities
  • IR/Angio/Special Procedures Experience:
    • Stents
    • Angioplasty
    • Angiograms
    • Nephrogram
    • Peripherals
    • Drainages (upper and lower extremity)
    • Abdomen and Pelvic
    • Genitourinary Studies
    • Vascular Studies
    • Venous Access
    • Neurological Studies

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC required; RQI acceptable; certificate of completion not accepted
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists): Required
  • Additional Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM as applicable (review unit job description for specifics)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start (7-year standard MN statewide search)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year of start
  • Transcript/Diploma verification as applicable
  • Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no starts with fingerprints pending unless approved "more time needed" letter)
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
    • Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
  • Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year (not required for client clearance but recommended)
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start

  • Total Staffed Beds: 672
  • Charting System: Excellian/Epic
  • Scrubs: Provided by the unit
  • Parking: Flat rate applies

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete assigned pre-orientation online modules within 72 hours of login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
  • Passport-style photo required within 48 hours of signing contract for badge
  • Medication and competency exams required annually
  • References not required for client clearance but required for Per Diem candidates
  • Skills checklist required annually

  • This is a travel contract position with a 13-week duration.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Floating is not required or expected.
  • On-call duties are limited and mostly elective beyond 5 assignments per month.
  • Locals are accepted with no radius restrictions.
