Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Leonardtown, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: IMC (Intermediate Care), PCU/IMC/Stepdown
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week, 3 shifts of 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Every other weekend coverage required; weekend assignments directed by unit based on operational needs
  • Float required to Telemetry and/or Medical-Surgical units as needed (Telemetry units have 1:5 or 1:6 patient ratios)
  • Patient ratio experience of 4-6 required
  • Previous charge nurse experience strongly preferred
  • Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience required

Certifications & Exams

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be current (completed within 1 year, updated annually)

Additional Requirements

  • Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease (signed by MD, PA, NP, or DO)
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or titers:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and completed prior to start

Background Checks & Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification of highest degree required by position
  • I9 and E-Verify attestation required prior to start
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement required

Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a lower rate (not relevant for pay details here)
  • Unit may require floating to other units as needed
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position

This position is ideal for RNs with PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience looking for a 13-week travel contract in Maryland with a structured 3x12 hour shift schedule and weekend coverage requirements.
