Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Summary
- Role: Clinical Nurse Coordinator for Lombardi (Outpatient) Oncology
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5x8 days)
- Work Settings: Inpatient and Outpatient Oncology
- Specialty: Medical Oncology / Hematology (malignant and benign)
Requirements
- Licensure: Must have a valid DC nursing license in hand
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in oncology nursing
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Certifications:
- Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- Preferred: OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse), ONS/ONCC certifications
- Skills:
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
- Care coordination
- Isolation and neutropenic precautions
- Telephone triage
- Psychosocial care and symptom management
- Preferred Skills: Experience caring for patients with cancers including bladder/kidney, brain, breast, colorectal, ENT, leukemia/blood dyscrasias, and hematology
Health & Safety Requirements
- Flu vaccine required (or approved medical/religious exemption)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the past year (with annual updates)
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Other immunizations/documentation required:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer
Background & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification of highest degree required by position
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during employment
- Completion of facility-specific modules and attestations prior to start
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
Additional Notes
- Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function
- Medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, and other competency exams required as applicable
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual
- Facility-specific photo for badge required
