Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday (No weekends)
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Patient Population: Adults
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Work Settings: Infusion Center, Inpatient Oncology, Outpatient Oncology
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner experience required

Required Experience & Certifications

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (higher value from description)
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment)
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
  • Chemotherapy Certification
• Additional Certifications (may be required based on unit):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – if working in ED or Pediatrics
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – for Labor & Delivery candidates
  • State Nursing License (valid prior to start)

Clinical Skills Required

• Chemotherapy Skills:

  • Administration of chemotherapy
  • Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
  • IV push administration of chemotherapy
• IV Therapy / Infusions:

  • Administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals
  • Blood and blood product administration
  • Care and management of ports
  • Infusion pump management
  • Intravenous hydration and multivitamins
  • PICC line care and starting IVs
• Medications: Antibiotics

Additional Requirements

• Must have flu vaccine (or approved medical/religious exemption) for the flu season (Sept 2023 - Mar 2024)
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
• Criminal background check and various verifications required prior to start
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• TB testing (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunization documentation required for:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
• N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)

Notes

• Scrubs are not provided; color required is blue
• Candidates with 1.5 to less than 2 years of experience may be considered if experience is continuous and steady (not cumulative across different jobs)
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced oncology infusion environment with strong chemotherapy and IV therapy skills
