Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday (No weekends)
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Patient Population: Adults
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Work Settings: Infusion Center, Inpatient Oncology, Outpatient Oncology
- Electronic Medical Record: Cerner experience required
Required Experience & Certifications
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (higher value from description)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
- Chemotherapy Certification
- Additional Certifications (may be required based on unit):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – if working in ED or Pediatrics
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – for Labor & Delivery candidates
- State Nursing License (valid prior to start)
Clinical Skills Required
- Chemotherapy Skills:
- Administration of chemotherapy
- Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
- IV push administration of chemotherapy
- IV Therapy / Infusions:
- Administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals
- Blood and blood product administration
- Care and management of ports
- Infusion pump management
- Intravenous hydration and multivitamins
- PICC line care and starting IVs
- Medications: Antibiotics
Additional Requirements
- Must have flu vaccine (or approved medical/religious exemption) for the flu season (Sept 2023 - Mar 2024)
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Criminal background check and various verifications required prior to start
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- TB testing (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunization documentation required for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
Notes
- Scrubs are not provided; color required is blue
- Candidates with 1.5 to less than 2 years of experience may be considered if experience is continuous and steady (not cumulative across different jobs)
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced oncology infusion environment with strong chemotherapy and IV therapy skills
