Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Float Pool position on the PCU (Progressive Care Unit) Night Shift
  • May float to any stepdown/PCU area or other campuses (Ross Heart, Brain & Spine, Dodd)
  • May be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Estimated patient ratios: 1:3-4

Experience & Skills Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
  • Required skills: IV start, telemetry (Tele)
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS and ACLS certifications must be current (AHA Instructor/Provider or RQI accepted)
  • Unit-specific competency exams required, including:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required for Aya candidates)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for all RNs within 1 year of start and annually thereafter (with remediation process if needed)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM) but not specified for this role

Licensure & Background

  • Valid nursing license required; compact license holders from states other than Ohio must complete additional residency documentation
  • Background checks required:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start
    • FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881) within 1 year of start
    • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
  • Education verification from accredited nursing programs required (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, CASN)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low titer
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation
    • Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
