Description

Travel RN Opportunity – MedSurg Telemetry Unit

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg Telemetry
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Overview

  • Unit: E100 – MedSurg Telemetry
  • Beds: 48 (average census 27)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights)
  • Staffing: 1 unit secretary (7a-11p), Patient Care Technicians (PCT) ratio 1:10-15, occasional 1:1 coverage
  • Equipment: Hoyer lift, automated BP machines, bladder scanner, remote telemetry monitoring, vein finder
  • Documentation System: Altera/Allscripts Sunrise
  • Scheduling: Every other week (EOW), 12-hour shifts preferred
  • Floating Policy: Floats to like MST units; float pool and travelers float first
  • Patient Experience: Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) on day shift Mon-Fri at 10:30-11:15 am

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in MedSurg Telemetry nursing
  • Strong head-to-toe assessment skills
  • Orthopedic care knowledge
  • IV medication administration and management, including:
    • Lasix drip
    • Heparin drip
    • IV push metoprolol, diltiazem, insulin (IV or subQ)
  • Wound care including drain management and VAC therapy
  • NGT/G tube care and parenteral nutrition
  • Central line management (PICC, HD catheter, midlines)
  • Foley, nephrostomy, suprapubic catheter care
  • Ostomy care
  • Postoperative patient care

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Certification

Additional Information

  • Dress Code: No required uniform; scrubs and closed-toe shoes (no crocs)
  • New blood pressure machines and updated technology on unit
  • Positive team atmosphere with great employee retention
  • Established UPC (Unit Practice Council) meeting monthly
  • Hospital recently joined a large healthcare system; prior knowledge of system is a plus
