Job Summary: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
- Primary Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D) with possible assignments/floating to NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics
- Facility Type: Children's hospital experience required within the last 3 years; open to candidates with level 1 adult facility experience
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience
- Must have L&D experience
- Children's hospital experience within the last 3 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First Time Travelers Accepted)
Licensure & Certifications
- Indiana State License required (temporary license accepted if applied for permanent)
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- NBRC RRT
- NRP (required if placed in L&D; can be obtained after offer)
- Preferred Certification: PALS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Unit & Floating Information
- Candidates may be assigned to NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics units
- Floating between these units and to IU Health North Hospital may occur
Important Notes
- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at this facility except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
Required Documents & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year residential/work history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years
- Skills checklist within 12 months, completed annually
- Completion of facility-specific orientation, compliance, and confidentiality forms (time sensitive)
- Mandatory RRT modules completion required for RRT candidates before orientation
Summary
This travel contract position is ideal for Respiratory Therapists with pediatric and critical care experience, especially those with L&D and PICU backgrounds. First-time travelers are welcome. Candidates must hold an Indiana state license and required certifications, and be prepared to complete extensive compliance and health documentation prior to start. The role involves working primarily in a children's hospital setting with floating responsibilities across NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics units.
