About

The eastern gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park is a small town surrounded by towering peaks. The Big Thompson River runs through it, renowned for world-class fly fishing, while Lake Estes offers more great fishing along with boating, kayaking and paddle boarding. A 3.75-mile trail rings the lake and is ideal for strolling and enjoying the spectacular mountain views and frequent wildlife sightings, including elk and bears. The Estes Park Aerial Tramway offers a panoramic view over the town and the Rockies, with rides, mini golf and even bungee jumping at the nearby Fun City Family Amusement Park. While exploring downtown, you'll discover many shops selling Rocky Mountain goods and restaurants running the gamut from casual to fine dining. The famous Stanley Hotel that inspired Stephen King's The Shining stands impressively on a hill nearby and hosts the popular Cascades Restaurant, a traditional steakhouse with piano music.
