Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Greenville, South Carolina
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Patient Population: Adults/Geriatrics
- Floating: Required to float to other units or campuses as needed, limited to qualified areas with documented competencies.
- Charting System: 1 year of EPIC experience required
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Trauma Experience: Must have Trauma Level 1 experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (accepts first-time travelers)
Licensure & Certifications
- License: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license for South Carolina required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in Adult Critical Care work settings
- Skilled in extubation, nasal airway placement, suctioning (oral and airway), pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care
- Experienced with administration of respiratory medications including albuterol, Atrovent, combivent, flovent, inhaled steroids, ispurel, lidocaine, perforomist, pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, spiriva, terbutaline sulfate, tobramycin, xopenex
- Competent in delivering medication via aerosol setup mask, aerosol setup trach, Medihaler, Metered Dose inhaler
- Experience with handheld, T-piece, and trach collar nebulizers
- Skilled in high flow nasal cannula and trach collar oxygen therapy
- Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
Scheduling & Policies
- RTO, Block & Special Scheduling Requests: Must be submitted with application; approval required at booking
- Call Off Policy: Facility allows 1 call off shift per 2 weeks
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, alias searches, and state/county verifications
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 90 days)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (not required for 100% remote)
- Respirator Fit Test completed onsite during orientation
- Various certifications and competencies must be current and valid (see below)

- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (annual)
- Core Competency Training (Parts I, II, III) annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for applicable roles
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA, OSHA, TJC training)
- Other certifications as applicable based on unit assignment (e.g., TNCC, ENPC, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification)
Additional Notes
- Must have a valid driver's license for computer access setup and while on duty
- Badge photo required prior to start
- Online orientation modules (~12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
- Floating policy must be acknowledged and signed
- Facility prioritizes keeping staff in home unit but requires flexibility to float as needed
This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with at least 2 years of experience, including trauma level 1 experience, who are comfortable working night shifts and floating between units. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
