Description
Job Summary: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Requirements
Licenses & Certifications
- Indiana State License required (must be in hand to submit application)
- NBRC-RRT required
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NRP (AHA NRP only; required for placements in Labor & Delivery, can be obtained after offer)
- PALS preferred
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Experience
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
- Must have Children's Hospital experience within the last 3 years
- L&D experience required (primary assignment in Labor & Delivery)
- Open to travelers with experience in a level 1 adult facility
- NICU or PICU experience required
- Floating between PICU, NICU, and Pediatrics units expected
Shift
- 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Unit Information
- Assignments primarily in Labor & Delivery, NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics
- Floating among these units and possibly to other nearby hospitals may occur
Compliance & Documentation
Background Checks
- Must include 7 years of residence/work history
- Social Security Number trace
- County, statewide, and national criminal checks
- National Sex Offender Registry
- FACIS Level III
- Education verification (required for new travelers)
- International background check if lived/worked outside the US in last 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; declinations/exemptions NOT accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) required
References & History
- Minimum of 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years
- Employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
Additional Notes
- IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Perioperative/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers.
- Mandatory completion of 21 RRT modules prior to orientation for RRT candidates, with a strict deadline.
- Floating to multiple pediatric and adult units may be required.
- HIPAA and facility-specific compliance forms must be completed prior to start.
This position is ideal for respiratory therapists with pediatric and critical care experience who are comfortable working in a children's hospital setting and are flexible with floating between related units. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
