Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Avon, Indiana
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (MRI Tech)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Friday-Sunday, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- On-call Requirement: Yes, weekend call every 6 weeks
- Floating: Must be willing to float between like units
- Block Schedule: To be discussed
- Locals Accepted: Yes (within 50 miles radius)
- Holiday Work: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Guaranteed Hours:
- 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours/week
- 3 shifts of 12 hours: 36 hours/week
- 4 shifts of 12 hours: 48 hours/week
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists)
- Indiana State License (must be valid and verified)
Special Requirements
- Experience with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
- Experience with Siemens MRI equipment (specifically Siemens Magnatom Aera with syngo MR XA30 Software)
- This position will not scan Breast or Cardiac studies
Facility & Unit Information
- Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care Hospital
- Department has 2 Siemens MRI machines
- 24/7 outpatient scheduling
- Patient types: Emergency, inpatient, and observation
- Exam types include Neuro, MSK, Body, Breast, Cardiac, and MRA exams (excluding Breast and Cardiac for this role)
- Charting system: Cerner
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Parking: Free
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year work/living history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Transcript/Diploma (official and clear copy)
- Education verification by third party
- State license verification within 30 days of start
- Competency exams including unit competency and color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent)
- Medication/Pharmacology test (not required for techs)
- Orientation safety manual and HIPAA acknowledgement
- Facility-specific forms and packets (orientation, compliance, confidentiality, policy, self-study, etc.)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators only)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
References & Employment History
- Minimum 2 references from recent employment within 2 years
- References must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above (team lead acceptable for Allied)
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist within 12 months and updated annually
- Employment application must cover 7 years with all gaps accounted for
This position offers a structured schedule with guaranteed hours and requires flexibility for on-call and holiday shifts. Candidates must meet all certification, licensing, and health requirements prior to start. Experience with Siemens MRI equipment and PACS is essential.
