Travel Nurse Opportunity: MedSurg - Franklin, Indiana

Position Details

  • Day: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Night: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling as appropriate; variable based on census and staffing availability
• Weekend Requirement: Approximately 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (rotation)
• Holiday Requirement: Rotation based on calendar
• Call/Standby: May be placed on call if cancelled, with a 45-minute return policy

Experience Requirements

• Must have experience in Medical Surgical (MS), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Telemetry (Tele), or Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Unit Information

• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Day: 1:5
  • Night: 1:6
• Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available on day and night shifts with a max ratio of 1:12
• Remote telemetry monitoring available; MS nurses are not responsible for interpreting strips (monitor tech on CCU provides analysis)
• No requirement for RNs to titrate drips
• Common drips: Heparin per protocol
• Floating within MedSurg scope of practice may be required
• Charge nurse available on both shifts; house supervisor available on nights
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

Orientation

• 1 shift of clinical nursing education
• 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
• 3 additional 12-hour shifts orientation

Equipment

• Chronic use of BiPAP and CPAP devices on unit

This assignment offers a mid-size hospital setting with a diverse patient population and a supportive team environment, located within a short drive to Indianapolis.
