Travel Nurse Opportunity: MedSurg - Indiana (Franklin)

Job Details

• Shift Hours:

  • Day: 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Night: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling as appropriate; variable based on census and staffing availability
• Weekend Requirement: Rotation with approximately 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Rotation based on calendar
• Call/Standby: May be placed on call if cancelled, with 45-minute return time after notification
• Floating: Required within MedSurg scope of practice

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Pneumonia (PNA)
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Orthopedic cases (shoulders, hips, knees)
• Appendectomy (appy)
• Cholecystectomy (chole)
• Diverticulitis
• Bowel resection
• Pancreatitis

Staffing & Ratios

• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Day shift: 1:5
  • Night shift: 1:6
• Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) on day and night shifts with a max ratio of 1:12
• Charge nurse available on both shifts
• House supervisor available on nights

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Experience Requirements

• Must have experience in Medical-Surgical (MS), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Telemetry (Tele), or Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Clinical Responsibilities

Orientation

• 1 shift of clinical nursing education
• 2 shifts on unit with preceptor

• Navy blue scrubs
