Description

Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract


Required Credentials & Licenses

  • NBRC (RRT) certification required
  • Indiana state license required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • RRT certification
  • Education must be accredited through CoARC and regionally accredited through CHEA

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience
  • At least 18 months recent ICU experience required
  • Minimum experience required: 18 months
  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)

Shift & Floating

  • Every Other Week (EOW) shift required
  • Must be willing to float between multiple facilities within the system

Certifications (Additional, as applicable)

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (per unit requirements)
  • Tech Cert Verification (national, as applicable)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA required)
  • State License Verification (within 30 days before start)

Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
  • Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, 100% minimum score)
  • Unit Competency Exam

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start date
  • Fit Mask test within 12 months of start (specific approved respirators required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start date
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
  • Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start date
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
  • Color Blind Exam (Ishihara or equivalent)

Background & Documentation

  • Background check required within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS Level III
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Transcript/Diploma (official copies only)
  • Education verification by 3rd party
  • References: Minimum 2 from recent employment within 2 years, must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
  • Employment application current and complete, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Application must cover 7 years of history with all gaps accounted for

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of mandatory RRT modules (22 modules) prior to orientation for RRT candidates
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance, confidentiality, and policy forms (time sensitive)
  • Completion of Look of Assurance packet prior to start
  • Self-study orientation and testing required for certain facilities
  • Fast Track slide packet and signature forms required for some locations

Notes

  • Effective 11/30/24, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at these facilities except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (exemptions apply)
  • On-site Fit Testing is available only as a last resort and not at all campuses
  • PAPR use is facility approved and may be automatically approved at some locations

This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with strong ICU experience who are flexible with floating and willing to complete required certifications and facility-specific training. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
