Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyler, Texas
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical ICU)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Days, 3x12 hours
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2
  • Float: Yes, to units of equal or lesser acuity
  • Weekend Coverage: 6 shifts per 6 week period
  • Number of Rooms: 12
  • Level I Trauma experience: Preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Specialty Experience: 2 years
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have prior travel experience)

Required Skills & Certifications

  • Charting System: Epic experience required
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Preferred/As Applicable Certifications:
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
    • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
    • Education verification (highest level) required
    • Fingerprinting (time sensitive for certain locations)
  • Licenses & Verifications:
    • State License primary source online verification
    • NURSYS Verification for RN
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% score or meet Angoff score)
    • Color Blind Testing (online)
    • Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
    • Core Parts I, II, III (annual for subcontractors)
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical Exam within 12 months of start
    • Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
    • Immunizations/Vaccinations:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year
      • TB Questionnaire (if positive results)
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
      • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
      • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
      • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
      • COVID-19 Vaccine (Dose 1 and Fully Vaccinated) or approved exemption required
    • Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start
  • Facility Specific:
    • Clear headshot photo for badge

Additional Notes

  • Float to units of equal or lesser acuity may be required.
  • Weekend coverage expectations: 6 shifts every 6 weeks.
  • Level I Trauma experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Candidates residing in certain counties in Texas are not eligible for this travel contract.

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel experience looking for a 13-week travel contract in a Medical Surgical ICU setting with day shifts.
