Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Tyler, Texas
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights
- Unit: Medical-surgical unit with telemetry capabilities (2 West A)
- Patient Population: Patients with renal and urological diagnoses, including post prostate surgery, renal stones, bladder and kidney surgeries; patients range from young adults to geriatrics.
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Float: Required to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Charting System: Epic (experience required)
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – as applicable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) – as applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – as applicable
- State License verification (primary source)
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
Competencies and Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online version acceptable)
- Competency Exam (minimum passing score 80% or higher if Angoff score is higher)
- Annual Core Testing (for subcontractors)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (must be renewed annually)
- Adult TDAP Vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (2-Step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- TB Questionnaire within 90 days of start (if positive TB test)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; 1 booster post titer accepted if negative/equivocal
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
Background and Documentation Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification (highest level) required
- Work history verification for 7 years
- Complete application/resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
- Clear headshot photo for badge
Additional Notes
- Float to units of equal or lesser acuity is required
- Candidates residing in certain counties in Texas are not eligible for travel contracts at this facility
- Fingerprinting and orientation requirements apply for New Mexico placements only (not applicable here)
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a telemetry medical-surgical environment with renal/urological patient care.
