Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Belleville, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (higher value confirmed)
- Shift Ratios:
- Days: 1:3-4+
- Nights: 1:5+
- Schedule: Every other weekend required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
- Float Assignments: May float to inpatient Behavioral Health unit (CC3) or Emergency Screening (PESS)
- BLS Certification: Required
- EPIC Experience: Documented EPIC skills required
- Behavioral Health Patient Population: Bipolar disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia/schizoaffective, personality disorders, concomitant substance use disorders, severely mentally ill
- Locals Accepted
Certifications & Training Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA required; RQI and instructor cards acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred for Behavioral Health; required for RN Manager, ED, Adult Critical Care, MS/Tele, Outpatient Surgery, PCU, L&D
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Not required for MS/Tele
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Not required for MS/Tele
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs; must complete Iron Temple training within 14 days of start (cost applies)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RNs & LPNs; must complete first attempt within 72 hours of signing
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Pharmacology exam required for all clinical staff; Basic EKG exam required for ED, MS/Tele, Telemetry, PCU, Observation Units, IMC, Step-Down, Adult Critical Care, PACU, Cath Lab, Educators
- Competency Exams: Must be completed within 72 hours of signing; failure after 3 attempts results in cancellation
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for Behavioral Health travelers
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for Adult Critical Care specialties, ED, Tele, MS/Tele, Cath Lab, Labor and Delivery units; must be updated annually
- Other Certifications: Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC for adults, APHON for pediatrics) if applicable; Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) for Labor & Delivery RNs
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks: Criminal background check required within 30 days of start; must include all aliases, locations worked/lived in past 7 years, sex offender, nationwide, federal, and other checks as specified
- Drug Screening: 10-panel urine drug screen required within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Physical exam within 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Fit Testing & Respiratory Clearance: Required on-site prior to start; Respiratory Medical Clearance and OSHA Respirator Questionnaire required annually
- Color Blind Testing: Required within one year if job tasks require color discrimination
- Latex Allergy Screening: Required within one year if applicable
- References: Two references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Employment History: 7 years of work history required; New Jersey candidates require verification of at least 1 year prior to start with no gaps over 30 days
- Skills Checklist: Must be completed and updated annually
Additional Notes
- All clinicians must complete the Iron Temple online training modules within 14 days of start date (cost applies)
- Any requests for time off or schedule changes must be approved prior to offer
- Floating policy applies and must be completed for every new assignment or site transfer
- Photo for badge must be passport-style, color, head and shoulders only
- Facility-specific education and annual sign-offs required prior to start and annually thereafter
- Candidates switching between RWJ sites with less than 30 days gap may reuse certain documentation
