Travel Pharmacist Opportunity

Location: San Antonio, Texas
Employment Type: Travel


Unit Information

  • Department: Pharmacy
  • Licensed Beds: 245
  • Staff: 38 total
    • Day Shift: 1 central pharmacist, 4 decentralized pharmacists, 1 ED pharmacist, 7 pharmacy technicians, 1 pharmacy buyer, 2 technician specialists
    • Night Shift: 1 central pharmacist, 1 pharmacy technician
  • Patient Ratios: Vary daily
  • EMR System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacist license with Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Minimum 2 years prior hospital experience preferred (required skills indicate at least 2 years)
  • Proof of completion of a 20-hour ACPE-accredited sterile compounding course (or equivalent attestation from pharmacist’s university/college)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Meditech EMR
  • Decentralized pharmacy experience, including vancomycin and renal dosing adjustments

Typical Responsibilities

  • Medication order verification and entry
  • Supervise technical support personnel in drug preparation and distribution
  • Perform final dispensing checks and complete required documentation
  • Review and monitor override and other pharmacy reports

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Rotation: 7 days on / 7 days off
  • Weekend Coverage: Rotates every other weekend
  • On Call: None
  • Dress Code: Olive scrub top / black scrub bottom

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks
