Description

Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Night shifts)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
  • Specialty Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • License: Must have permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday
  • Assessments:
    • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation (passing score required)

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty Years of Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Surg Telemetry experience (highest requirement)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background Check: FCRA compliant 7-year search including SSN trace, education verification, and more; must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
  • Fingerprinting: FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
  • Employment Application: Must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
  • References: 2 references from employment within 1 year of start, from Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director (no co-worker references)
  • Skills Checklist: Required annually
  • State-specific: Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required

Certifications & Training

  • ACLS and BLS certifications must be current; renew if expiring within 30 days of start
  • Pass/Fail Testing: ECG and medication dosing tests during orientation (required for all bedside RNs except OR)
  • Annual Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Unit-specific Competency Exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for orientation testing

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam; must confirm ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit Mask: N95 fit test within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations/Vaccines:
    • Tdap every 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination documentation
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Drug Testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Eye Exam: Required within 1 year of start for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment
  • Candidates must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
  • Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
  • Candidates must be aware of strict immunization and health documentation policies, including no declinations for certain vaccines
  • Pass/Fail testing and competency exams are mandatory for bedside nursing roles

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, who are comfortable working night shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
