Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS Tele RN Nights)

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele)
  • Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: May need to float within scope to like units or sister facilities

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years in MS/Telemetry, telemetry interpretation, and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Preferred Experience: Community hospital experience

  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 286
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: No cost
  • Scrub Color: Royal Blue
  • Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time

Scheduling & Hours

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block Scheduling: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed
  • Local Radius: 60 miles
  • Locals Accepted: Yes

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam updated annually
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive history
    • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug-April)
    • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
    • Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
  • Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology and general competency exams required
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire
  • Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 4-6 hours) prior to start
  • Onsite Fit Testing: Respirator fit test done during orientation; facial hair must be shaved or trimmed
  • Floating: May be required to float within scope to similar units or sister facilities

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • First-time travelers are accepted.
  • Candidates must have all required licenses and certifications active and valid prior to start.
  • Facility may accommodate block scheduling with prior approval but it is not guaranteed.
