Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: ICU Registered Nurse
  • Float assignments required to Med Surg, MS/Tele, Tele, and IMC as needed
  • Every other weekend shift required
  • Locals within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
  • First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Prior travel experience not required

Certifications & Exams

  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for MS/Tele and ICU units

Competencies & Testing

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 3 years of start)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual update required)
  • Color Blind Testing (online or in-person acceptable)
  • General Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 3 years of start)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start (covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification of highest degree required by position
  • Drug Screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana) and updated annually
  • Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella documentation or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Annual completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed by hire date
  • Clear photo for badge required
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)

Work Environment

  • ICU setting with critical care responsibilities
  • Float to multiple units including Med Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care
  • Every other weekend coverage required
