Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVICU) - Washington, DC
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVICU)
- Location: Washington, District of Columbia
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts, Day/Night rotating (0700-1930 & 1900-0730)
- Schedule Requirements: Every other weekend required; holidays as needed
- Float Requirements: Must float to ICU and Intermediate Care (IMC)
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty required
- Prior Travel Experience: Preferred but not required
- Licensure: Must have a valid DC nursing license prior to start date
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- Exams:
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks: Criminal background check within 90 days, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Drug Screening: Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
- Health Documentation:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually
- Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology competency and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required within 3 years, with minimum passing scores
- References: Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Work History: Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps; minimum 2 years employment verified in past 7 years
Notes
- Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate.
- Candidates must provide proof of pending status at time of submission.
- Annual completion of facility-specific modules and safety manual acknowledgment required.
- Must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and credentialing processes.
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU nurses who meet the licensure and certification requirements and are comfortable with rotating shifts and floating between ICU and IMC units. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
