Description
Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other weekend required
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Facility Assignment: Primarily Labor & Delivery (L&D), with possible floating to PICU, NICU, or Pediatrics units
- Unit Experience Required: NICU or PICU experience required; home unit assignment may change based on facility needs
- Children’s Hospital Experience: Required within the last 3 years
- PICU Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- L&D Experience: Must have L&D experience as primary assignment will be in L&D
- Open to: Travelers with experience in a level 1 adult facility, but must have recent Children’s Hospital experience
- Floating: May float between PICU, NICU, Pediatrics, and IU Health North Hospital
Licensure & Certifications
- Indiana State License: Required (temporary license accepted if application submitted for full license)
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NBRC RRT
- NRP (required for those placed in L&D; traveler can obtain after offer)
- Preferred Certifications:
- PALS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- Education: Must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Experience Requirements
- Specialty Years of Experience:
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience
- Children’s Hospital experience within last 3 years
- Prior Travel Experience:
- Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Additional Requirements
- Background Checks: Must be completed within specified timeframes, including 7-year history and international search if applicable
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and titers required: Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam required
- References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment, verified within 2 years, with supervisory titles
- Skills Checklist: Must be current within 12 months and completed annually
Important Notes
- IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities effective 11/30/2024, except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
- Mandatory RRT modules (21 total) must be completed before orientation for RRT candidates
- Floating between units and facilities may be required based on staffing needs
This position is ideal for respiratory therapists with pediatric and critical care experience who are flexible with floating and working in a children’s hospital environment. First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
