Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Position Overview

  • Work as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in NICU, PICU, and CVICU settings with pediatric patients.
  • May float to various NICU and rehab units including Shaker Children's Rehab, Fairview NICU, Akron NICU, and Hillcrest NICU.
  • Schedule options: 3x12-hour shifts or 4x12-hour shifts.
  • High-level care experience required (Level 4).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy, specifically with pediatric, PICU, and NICU patients.
  • Must have an Ohio RRT license in hand before starting.
  • Certifications required:
    • NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care) credential.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA preferred, RQI acceptable but non-RQI preferred.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for Emergency Department roles.
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only, required for RRT-NICU.
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only, required for RRT-NICU.

Experience Requirements

  • Must have experience in:
    • Pediatrics (PEDS)
    • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
    • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with high-level care (Level 4)

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements

Background and Screening

  • Criminal background check required prior to start; must be updated if break in service exceeds 2 months.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Transcript/Diploma verification required.
  • Two fingerprintings required:
    • One onsite at the facility before starting (especially for pediatric patient care roles).
    • One through the agency.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprints must be completed within 12 months of start and cannot be pending at start.

Health and Safety Documents

  • Pre-employment physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (specific approved mask types required).
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold/T-Spot) within 6 months of start, renewed annually. Chest X-ray required if history of positive TB.
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31). No declinations accepted.

Documentation and Training

  • Two recent satisfactory pre-employment references required.
  • Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
  • Unit-specific competency exam and skills checklist required, updated annually.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules (4-5 hours) prior to start; must be done on a computer using Chrome browser.
  • HIPAA orientation and safety manual acknowledgement required, updated annually.
  • I9/E-Verify attestation required.
  • Photo for badge must be submitted prior to start.

Additional Notes

  • All required certifications and work history, including any previous positions at this healthcare system, must be included in the candidate profile.
  • Requests for time off and scheduling must be communicated during submission and interview.
  • Locals are accepted at the same bill rate.
