Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Minimum 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• AHA BLS & ACLS certifications required
• Traveler must work at least every other holiday
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation
• PBDS Assessment waived

Required Experience

• Specialty Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Surg Telemetry experience (highest requirement)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross (RQI acceptable)
• Pass/Fail ECG & Medication Testing during orientation
• State nursing license verification (Ohio or compact state)
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, NIH Stroke Certification may be preferred or required depending on unit but not specified as mandatory for this role

Compliance & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
• Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates after 4/11/2025)
• Fit mask (N95) fit testing required within 12 months and updated annually
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Orientation & Training

• Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for pass/fail testing during orientation
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required

Additional Requirements

• Must submit 2 professional references from within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
• Skills checklist required annually

Notes

• Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
• Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting again at the facility
• Modules and onboarding process may take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start
• Candidates must work at least every other holiday during the contract

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs with current Ohio or compact state licensure, who are comfortable working night shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
