Job Opportunity: IR Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (5x8s)
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 4 cases per tech
  • On-call: Yes, rotation between two other techs
  • Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
  • Floating: No floating between units or sister facilities

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in General IR (higher value confirmed)
  • Types of Cases Experience Required: General Interventional Radiology
  • Preferred Experience: Neuro IR cases
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Certifications & Licenses

  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ARRT (R) certification
    • SCQRSA (South Carolina Quality Radiologic Safety Association)
  • Additional Certifications (as applicable):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only
    • Tech Cert Verification: Ultrasound Techs must have ARRT or ARDMS national license
  • State License: South Carolina license required (primary source verification)
  • Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency (facility does NOT provide radiation badges)
    • Required for OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, and Radiology travelers
    • Not required for MRI Techs, Mammography Techs, and Ultrasound Techs

Background & Compliance

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • International background searches required
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification not required for this facility, but diploma/transcripts preferred as placeholder if needed
  • Work history verification not required for this facility
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Performance evaluation required within 12 months of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Vaccinations & Titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
    • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted, declinations not accepted
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • COVID-19: Vaccines not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed

  • Scrubs: OR scrubs provided by facility
  • Parking: Free
  • Local Radius: 60 miles (locals not accepted)
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November (peak Aug-Sept)

Orientation & Documentation

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules required prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
  • Signed acknowledgments and agreements required before start (e.g., Assignment Acknowledgment, Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, HR Policy Manual, Systems User Agreement)
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system
  • Respirator clearance required annually for patient-facing travelers (RespSafety questionnaire)

  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval based on unit needs
  • All Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at submission and are subject to facility approval
