Travel RN Opportunity - ICU (COVID Unit)

Unit & Work Details

• Unit: 2 South ICU (COVID ICU)
• Beds: 14
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Shift Options:

  • 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, every other weekend (rotating weekends)
• Call Requirements: None
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
• Floating: Required as needed (candidates will be informed of floating policy during interview)

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (higher value between 1 and 2 years)
• Comfortable managing vasoactive drips
• Strong understanding of hemodynamics
• Experience with COVID ICU patients

Certifications & Licenses

• Active Texas RN License (temporary licenses NOT accepted)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Certification

Preferred Skills

• ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) experience
• CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) - NxtStg system
• Meditech documentation system experience

Procedures Performed on Unit

• ECMO
• CRRT
• Chest tube insertions
• Central line insertions

Unit Environment & Culture

• High acuity COVID ICU with advanced interventions such as VV ECMO
• Patient-focused care with faith-based philosophies
• Staff expected to maintain professional appearance:

  • Navy scrubs (top and pants), navy or white scrub jacket
  • Clean, healthy nails; neat hair with no extreme styles or colors
  • Tattoos should be covered when possible
  • Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited

Summary

This is a travel RN position in a high-acuity COVID ICU in San Antonio, TX, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and active Texas RN licensure. The unit offers advanced technology including ECMO and CRRT, with a supportive environment focused on quality patient care. Floating is required, and shifts are 12.5 hours with rotating weekends.
