Job Description

  • Administer all forms of Respiratory Therapy
  • Participate in consultations regarding therapy
  • Maintain respiratory equipment
  • Enforce safety standards
  • Keep departmental records

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NJ State License (can submit pending, but processing takes 4-6 weeks)

  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 72 hours of contract signing (no pending or rapid tests accepted)
  • Pass/fail competency testing onsite (medication, telemetry, EKG as applicable)
  • Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) with 80% passing score, updated annually
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • Skills checklist specific to unit
  • Employment verification for last 7 years (no attestations accepted)
  • Two professional references (one supervisory within last 12 months, one professional within last 3 years)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must provide copies of all certifications at submission.
  • All license verifications must be run within 30 days prior to start.
  • Temporary or emergency licenses are generally not accepted unless approved.
  • Pass/fail testing is required for all RN specialties and certain tech roles.
  • Core competency exams cover topics such as OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, patient safety, ethics, and more.
