Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Outpatient Clinic Cardiology RN)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cardiology experience highly preferred)
- Shift:
- Monday–Thursday: 4x8 hour shifts (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with 1-hour lunch)
- Friday: 1x4 hour shift (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
- Total: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: No
- On-call Requirement: No
- Floating: No floating between units or sister facilities required
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 5 years (higher end of 2-5 years range)
- Prior Travel Experience: Required (first-time travelers NOT accepted)
- Licenses:
- South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
- Additional Preferred: Cardiology experience

- Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use
- Radiation Badge: Required only if assigned to specific units (not typical for this role)
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Vaccinations:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
- COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters may be required for low titers
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and annual questionnaire required
- Drug Screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Other Labs: CBC and Biochem Panel may be required for certain departments
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency: Required
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- Other Certifications (if applicable):
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required for pediatric units
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required, not required for ER RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for ER
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 4-6 hours for this location
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
- First Day Instructions: Provided after clearance; all modules must be completed before orientation or traveler will be sent home
- COVID & Flu Documentation: Must be uploaded into facility system prior to start
Summary
This is a travel contract RN position in outpatient cardiology requiring 5 years of nursing experience and prior travel experience. The role offers a consistent weekday schedule with no weekends or on-call duties. Candidates must hold a valid SC or compact RN license and current BLS and ACLS certifications. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and immunization requirements is mandatory. Orientation and facility-specific training must be completed before starting.
