Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 32 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a CVOR Registered Nurse for a large (500+ beds), academic, teaching hospital. The assignment requires flexibility with scheduling to meet unit and patient care needs, including weekday shifts and on-call duties.
Schedule & Shift Details
- Shift options:
- 10-hour shifts (06:45 - 17:15) for 4 days
- 12-hour shifts (06:45 - 19:15) for 3 days
- On-call: One or two 12-hour weekday calls (19:00 - 07:15), usually one per week unless short staffed
- One full weekend of call every 5 weeks
- Workdays: Monday through Sunday, no block schedules
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience with high competency in cardiovascular/open heart OR
- General RN experience with the ability to float to other OR suites (general, ortho, neuro, ENT, etc.)
- Experience in a large academic teaching hospital (500+ beds) required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
Certifications
- BLS required
- CNOR preferred
- ACLS, PALS may be required depending on unit/job description (AHA certification required)
Other Requirements
- Prior travel experience is required
- Must be flexible with schedule
- Reliable transportation strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete and detailed work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type required
Orientation & Onboarding
- Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
- No block schedules
- Must complete EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work (masking and social distancing required)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification based on job requirements
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) release required for Home Health and Hospice specialties
- NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search required
- Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check required for Vermont placements
Health & Immunizations
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- N95 Fit Test (annual) with approved mask types
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years or titer
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive TB test (annual updates)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination required
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required if assigned to NY facility
Other Required Documents
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background)
- Auto insurance proof if using personal or rental vehicle
- Various facility-specific policy acknowledgments (dress code, telephone usage, etc.)
- Emergency contact form
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- Work history verification for last 2 years
- References: 2 professional references from assignments within last 3 years
Additional Notes
- Must have reliable transportation; personal or rental vehicle recommended, especially during Nov-Apr (snow tires advised)
- No public transportation access in the area
- Must complete all required documentation and modules prior to start date
