Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Specialty: Registered Nurse - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work on the Third Floor PACU
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts, different shift options (e.g., 6:00-16:30, 7:30-18:00, 9:00-19:30, 10:00-20:30, 11:00-21:30)
- No on-call or weekend shifts required
- Floating requirement: May float to main OR if census permits/needed
- Local rate within 60 miles of facility
Requirements
- Licensure:
- Pending DC nursing license accepted at time of submission (proof required)
- Must have DC license in hand prior to start date
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of general PACU nursing experience
- Experience must include administration of blood products, infection control, specimen handling and labeling, and general PACU procedures
- Vaccinations:
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions accepted onsite; must be obtained externally)
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multiple state and federal checks
- Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Immunization and titer documentation required for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap preferred within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually; TB questionnaire if prior positive history without treatment
- Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start date
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score within 3 years
- Color blindness testing required (online or in-person)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Floating to OR may be required depending on census
- No weekend or on-call shifts
- Flu vaccination is mandatory for all travelers at this facility
This position is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with strong EKG interpretation skills and the ability to work flexible 10-hour shifts without weekend or on-call duties.
