Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Emergency Room) - Travel/Contract

Location: Harvey, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ED)
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (urban, Level I Trauma ED experience required)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating Requirement: Yes
• Charting System: Epic
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes
• Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 7 days

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for ER clinical candidates

Preferred Certifications:

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI can possibly be completed onsite twice per month

Experience & Requirements

• Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must have at least 1 year of experience in the specialty or comparable/higher acuity
• Skills checklist required for assigned and float units (updated annually)
• Employment verification for the last 7 years required
• 2 professional references required

Licensure & Background Checks

• Valid RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
• Primary source license verification within 30 days of assignment start
• Background checks including 7-year history, aliases, sex offender, criminal, federal, and education verification
• Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) fingerprinting required if no Illinois state license
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask models required)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination or declination (within 10 years)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• TB questionnaire if positive TB test
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31) with facility-approved medical or religious exemptions only
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start

Facility Orientation & Documentation

• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (~2 hours) before start
• Passport-style photo required for badge
• COVID-19 and Influenza vaccine exemption forms available (religious and medical) with facility approval process

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work every other weekend and float as needed
• Prior travel experience is NOT required for this assignment
• Candidates must be able to complete all required documentation and verifications prior to start date
