Description
Job Opportunity: Echo Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday
- Daily Caseload: 75-100 inpatient and outpatient echoes per day
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 5 years
- First-timers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, depending on schedule
- On-call: Possible occasional call may be included
- Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required; no floating to sister facilities
- Block Schedule Accommodation: Yes (Tuesday – Saturday or Sunday - Thursday)
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Pending State License Accepted: Yes
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC required
- RDCS - Adults (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) - Required
- RDCS - Pediatrics - Preferred
- Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC) depending on unit
Experience & Skills Requirements
- Work Setting Experience:
- Required: Inpatient and Emergency Room
- Preferred: Outpatient, Teaching hospital, PICU, Neonate, NICU
- General Skills:
- Required: Portables and Syngo
- Preferred: IV Starts, PACS, Biopsies
- Echo Procedure Experience Required:
- 3D Echo, Bubble Study, Contrast Agents, M-Mode, Pharm Stress Echos, RIT/RVOT, TEE, Treadmill Stress Echos
- Equipment/Scanner Experience Preferred: Siemens and Phillips
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check required within 1 year of start date (7-year criminal search including MN statewide search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year of start
- Transcript or diploma verification as applicable
- Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year of start (not required for client clearance)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of signing
- Completion of facility-specific preorientation modules/online eLearning within 72 hours of receiving login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
- Annual skills checklist required
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
- Competency exam required (MS competency exam acceptable for PreOp)

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of specialty experience (Echo Tech in Radiology/Cardiology).
- Weekend and occasional on-call shifts may be required.
- Floating within the facility’s scope is expected; no floating to sister facilities.
- Block scheduling options available.
- Locals and candidates with pending state licenses are accepted.
This position is at a Magnet, Teaching, Level III Trauma short-term acute care facility with 672 staffed beds. Charting is done via Excellian/Epic.
