Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IR RN) - South Carolina, Columbia

Position Details

  • Schedule:
    • 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:30 AM - 6:00 PM), Monday through Friday
    • Rotating day off
    • Call required about every 10th weekend and approximately 2 weeknights every 6 weeks

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Required if working in pediatric or ER units; AHA or ARC only; valid through at least 30 days after start date
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Required for NICU and pediatrics as applicable; AHA only; valid through at least 30 days after start date
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Required for ER and Pediatric ER; certification must be current and valid through assignment
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): AWHONN required as applicable
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs; must be valid for entire assignment
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually for ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, SICU, MICU, MS/Telemetry, Stepdown, ER, Pediatric ER, PCU, PACU, Observation Unit, LTACH, IR, and Endoscopy units; valid through at least 30 days after start date
  • State RN License: Primary source verification required; license must be valid with no pending actions and not expire within 30 days of start date
  • NURSYS Verification: Must show all licenses and authorization to work in South Carolina; verification within 30 days of start date
  • Other Certifications:
    • STABLE (for L&D and NICU RNs)
    • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) for ER and Pediatric ER (may be deferred if new to Prisma under 1 year)
    • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue or equivalent for applicable units
    • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for RNs in certain units (Telemetry, Critical Care, MS/Tele, PACU, Cath Lab, Outpatient Surgery, Endoscopy, ER)
    • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA, OSHA/TJC training)
    • IV Certification (for LVN/LPN if applicable)

Compliance & Background Requirements

    • 7-year background check within 12 months of start date required
    • Must include SS trace, all aliases, state and county searches for all states/counties lived or worked in last 7 years
    • Federal searches (HHS/OIG, EPLS/GSA/SAM) required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
    • FACIS Level 3 search required
    • International searches if candidate lived/worked outside US in last 7 years
    • Fingerprinting required if no 12-month residency proof (specific to certain states like WV)
  • Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education Verification: Highest level of education verified; diplomas not accepted as placeholders
  • Physical Exam: Physician’s statement within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands; required if gap of 30+ days between contracts
  • Immunizations & Health Documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for clinical and non-clinical in high-risk areas)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start (True 2-step PPD, QF Gold, or Tspot)
    • Annual TB Questionnaire
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days of first
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination required
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days of first
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required by deadlines (not required for 100% remote candidates)

Orientation & Training

  • Online Orientation Modules: Must be completed within 72 hours of assignment; required before start; includes Prisma CORES I, II, and III
  • Pre-Assignment Testing: Must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login; includes medication and EKG/arrhythmia tests; two attempts allowed
  • Badge Photo: Passport-style photo with specific background and lighting requirements required prior to start
  • Floating Policy: Must be signed by all clinical candidates; expires annually
  • Contractor Acknowledgment: Must be signed within 24 hours of contract signing; expires annually

Work Environment & Additional Info

  • Shift Details: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each, Monday-Friday, with rotating day off
  • Call: Weekday and weekend call required approximately every 10th weekend and 2 weeknights every 6 weeks
  • Facility: Latex-free environment
  • Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation (3M N95 masks commonly used)
