Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position: ER Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Setting: General Emergency Department (combined adult/pediatric)
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 1900-0730
  • Ratio: 1:4 patient assignment
  • Start: ASAP

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience in a general ED setting (adult and pediatric combined)
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) preferred

Skills

  • Triage
  • IV Starts
  • Phlebotomy

Exams

  • Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section

Work Schedule

  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid state nursing license required prior to start
  • Certification verifications as listed above

Health & Immunizations

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray if history of positive TB
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity documentation or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Drug Testing

  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana) including multiple substances
  • Annual updates required
  • New drug screen required if break in service exceeds 6 months

Other Requirements

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score within 3 years
  • Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam updated annually with minimum 80% overall and 100% lethal rhythms score

Additional Notes

  • Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a different rate
  • Facility-specific modules and orientation required prior to start
  • Photo for badge must meet specified criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
  • Various attestations and documentation must be completed by candidate or CCS prior to start

This position is ideal for RNs with solid ER experience looking for a travel contract in a combined adult/pediatric emergency department setting. First-time travelers are welcome.
