Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (IR Tech)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology Tech)
  • Shift: 8:00 AM or 8:30 AM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 9 cases per tech
  • Years of Experience Required: 1 year
  • First-time Travelers Accepted: Yes
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, 0-4 assignments per month; additional on-call is elective
  • Weekend Requirement: On call as needed
  • Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • Pending State License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 5 days
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes

Required Experience & Skills

  • Work Setting Experience: Inpatient, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Interventional Radiology
  • X-ray Procedure Experience: Extremities, Abdomen/GI, Spine/Pelvis, Head, Chest/Thorax, Lower and Upper Extremities
  • IR/Angio/Special Procedures Experience:
    • Stents
    • Angioplasty
    • Angiograms
    • Nephrogram
    • Peripheral procedures
    • Drainages (upper and lower extremity)
    • Abdomen and pelvic studies
    • Genitourinary studies
    • Vascular studies
    • Venous access
    • Neurological studies

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified (RQI acceptable, certificate of completion not accepted)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CWCN, CWON – Required as applicable based on unit/job description
  • State License: Minnesota state license verification required (primary source verification)
  • Other Certifications: Medication/Pharmacology competency exams and other competency exams as applicable

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start date (7-year standard MN statewide search)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year of start
  • Transcript/Diploma verification as applicable
  • Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprint pending starts allowed)
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 12 months)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
    • Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start for fit testing

This is a travel contract opportunity for an Interventional Radiology Tech with at least 1 year of experience in relevant inpatient and IR settings. The position requires BLS and ARRT certifications, with additional certifications as applicable.
