Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IMC)
Location: Clinton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position covers Intermediate Care (IMC) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) units.
- ICU experience is required.
- Float to ICU and Medical-Surgical units as needed.
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730), every other weekend required.
- MS/Tele and Cardiac Telemetry experience required.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted).
Certifications & Exams Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification required for MS/Tele and ICU units.
- Successful completion of the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 3 years)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual update required)
- Color Blind Testing (online or in-person acceptable)
- General Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 3 years)
Licensure & Documentation
- Valid state nursing license required prior to start.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/statewide searches.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates)
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
- Hepatitis B titer or series, or signed declination
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) documentation or titers
- Varicella documentation or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
- Annual acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual.
- Compliance with ongoing monthly background checks (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG).
- Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background).
Work Environment
- Facility accepts local candidates within 60 miles at a different rate.
- Float responsibilities include ICU and Medical-Surgical units.
- Every other weekend work required.
This position is ideal for RNs with ICU and telemetry experience looking for a travel contract in Maryland with a 13-week commitment. First-time travelers are welcome.
