Job Opportunity: Locum NICU Respiratory Therapist

Location: Grand Forks, North Dakota
Specialty: Respiratory Therapist (NICU)
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Perform and document evaluations and patient assessments in the NICU.
  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic treatment and assist physicians.
  • Deliver patient education, family teaching, and support tailored to patient and family needs.
  • Identify significant changes in patient condition and take appropriate action; communicate with caregivers and document accordingly.
  • Perform pain assessments and respond according to standard procedures.
  • Complete all required documentation including order entry, EMR, medication charting, safety/incident reports, and equipment maintenance logs.
  • Process patient charges and verify reports as needed.
  • Disassemble, clean, assemble, and maintain respiratory equipment; tag equipment needing repair or maintenance and notify appropriate departments.
  • Transport infants to/from referral health systems, providing high-quality critical care per organizational guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet department and organizational needs.

Required Certifications

  • Respiratory Therapist license (North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care) – prior to start date
  • Respiratory Therapist license (Minnesota Board of Medical Practice) – within 6 months of start date
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – within 90 days of start date
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – within 90 days of start date
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 6 months of start date
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – within 6 months of start date

Additional Notes

  • New graduates must obtain registry from the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) within 12 months of start date.
  • Must have NICU experience.
