Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: San Angelo, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Start date within 3-5 weeks
- Hybrid schedule rotating between 06:30-15:00 and 10:30-18:00 shifts
- Includes weekdays, weekends, and holiday call coverage
- Fast-paced Operating Room environment
- Call and holiday coverage required
Specialty & Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
- Required experience: 5 years preferred (may consider less with strong experience in general, neuro, ortho, trauma, robotics specialties)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications & Licenses Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted; ICU RNs have 1 year to obtain for longer assignments
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): Required as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required as applicable; required for ER; ICU RNs have 1 year to obtain for longer assignments
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required as applicable; required for ICU and PCU
- State Nursing License Verification: Required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification: Required within 30 days of start
- Other certifications: Chemotherapy, ENPC, and others as applicable per job description
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Pass/Fail testing during orientation (medication administration, restraint, glucometer, EKG)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Fit mask test within 6 months prior to start; annual updates required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire annually
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or series with declination form)
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or proof of disease)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Drug testing required within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season
- Initial COVID-19 vaccination series required (boosters not required)
Additional Requirements
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start (health record, code of conduct, confidentiality, security agreements, orientation, vaccine exemption if applicable)
- Two professional references within 3 years
- Resume or employment application required
- Skills checklist updated annually
